Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

AT WHAT AGE CAN KIDS USE THE DUOPILLOW RANGE?

The duopillow range is to only be used with children above 2 years old. This aligns to Red Nose Foundation guidelines that pillows below 2 years old are not required. For children over 2 years and with supervision, the bedsharing pillow can be used when transitioning your child into their own bed or when bed sharing.

Several families with children with special needs have found the bedsharing pillow suitable in assisting with caring for children at night.

It is important to note that pillows are not suitable for babies in any instance. Please ensure you have read all the product safety information provided.

IS BED SHARING AND CO-SLEEPING THE SAME?

No, they are a little bit different!

The duopillow is designed for bed sharing, when a young child (aged 2 and above) and adult sleep on the same surface.

Whereas co-sleeping (as described by Professor James McKenna, a leading expert on mother and baby co-sleeping) refers to any situation in which an adult, usually the mother, sleeps within close enough proximity to an infant – but not on the same surface – allowing the mother and infant to respond to each other’s sensory signals and cues.

Throughout the website, we have interchangeably used the terms bed sharing and co-sleeping, as most people tend to commonly relate to the term co-sleeping for both sleep practices.

WHAT PILLOW CASE FITS THE DUOPILLOW?

The duopillow fits most standard king size pillow case slips (90cm x 48cm)

Duopillow is medium firmness to ensure comfortable neck and head support.  Other softer pillows made with polyfill or feathers can not provide the same level of support or contour as the inner core of dupillow.

WHY HAS MY PILLOW FOAM CHANGED COLOUR?

All types of foam, including our premium inner core oxidize with air and sunlight.  This is a completely natural process that the foam goes through and in no way impairs the effectiveness of the foam.

HOW SHOULD I CARE FOR THE INNER FOAM?

Foam can be spot cleaned with mild detergent and a damp cloth, by hand only. Dry at room temperature away from heat or light.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF THERE IS A NEW FOAM SMELL?

Occasionally, there is a "new foam" smell to the pillow, usually the result of the warm environment the pillow has travelled to you.  If this is the case, remove the foam from the removable cover, and press down to expel any air. Leave it to rest in a cool dark place with good air flow until odour dissipates.
